Towards Universality: The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Voluntary Health Insurance نحو الشمولية: التأمين الصحي الاختياري التابع للصندوق الوطني للضمان الإجتماعي

The NSSF Voluntary Health Insurance scheme allows categories of the uninsured segment of the population to voluntarily enroll in the NSSF and benefit from healthcare coverage. This visual provides an overview about this scheme, access to it, application process, and benefits it offers. It also features data based on a survey, conducted between October and December 2020, of 1000 randomly selected residents in Lebanon (including Lebanese and non-Lebanese).

Social Protection in Jordan - الحماية الاجتماعية في الأردن

This infographic provides an overview of the two main Social Security systems in Jordan: the Social Security Cooperation (SSC) and the National Aid Funds. It shows that both are limited in terms of inclusivity and reach, leaving segments of the population without any form of social protection, and offers targeted recommendations for reforms.

What is the right to health? - ما هو الحقّ في الصحّة؟

Beyond the mere provision of healthcare, the right to health is entrenched in human rights and encompasses underlying determinants of health (including gender equality, right to food, right to housing for example), freedoms and rights, and entitlements such as equal opportunity to access the highest attainable standards of health. All health related services, goods and facilities must be available, accessible, acceptable, and of good quality.

Right to health in Lebanon - الحقّ في الصحّة في لبنان

The healthcare system in Lebanon is fragmented, exclusionary, and highly privatised.
Although there are multiple social protection schemes offering access to different healthcare benefits, some segments of the population, including unemployed, elderly, workers in the informal sector, migrants workers, and refugees have limited and unequal access to healthcare benefits and coverage. 

Right to health in Jordan- الحقّ في الصحّة في الأردن

In Jordan, while the majority of the population has access to a wide range of public healthcare services, coverage and reach is still limited, unequal, and lacking in terms of quality. Vulnerable groups particularly, and more specifically  unregistered refugees have limited access to healthcare benefits. 

By notably revising its public spending for a better and more equal coverage, and redistribution of resources in the healthcare sector, Jordan could significantly improve the quality and coverage of healthcare services in the country for all populations.

Localising migration governance in the Middle East region. Towards human rights based policies and interventions

This policy brief builds on Lebanon Support’s transformative and interdisciplinary research on migration, mobility, and circulation in the region. It aims to build on comparative contextual research findings to propose targeted recommendations from a bottom-up perspective, including the perspective of grassroot organisations, practitioners, and those who are affected by migration policies: refugees themselves. It also endeavours to amplify local, national, and regional voices in global discussions on migration, to inform more humane and human rights based policy-making.
