Syrian killed, other injured in shooting in Arsal

On 14 Apr 15, at around 2000hrs, in Arsal – North Bekaa, unidentified armed elements in a silver color vehicle fired shots towards Lebanese and Syrian nationals (Qassem Wehbe and Moussa Haidar) at Al Jemmaleh road. Moussa (Syrian) passed away instantly while Qassem (Lebanese) was reported injured.

ISIL member apprehended at a LAF checkpoint in the Eastern Bekaa

On 14 Apr 15, Lebanese Army Forces (LAF) arrested a wanted ISIL member (Syrian national - Turki Qalfoun) at a checkpoint in the eastern Bekaa. The detainee had left the northern city of Tripoli's Abi Samra neighborhood soon after militant Osama Mansour was killed on 09 Apr 15. Qalfoun recruited members to ISIL.

ISIL abducts then releases Lebanese in Aarsal

On 12 Apr 15, armed elements belonging to ISIL kidnapped Lebanese citizen, Mustapha Houjeiry, from his place of work in the outskirts of Aarsal, then released him later on. The militants abducted Houjeiry from his stone cutting sawmill and confiscated a bulldozer. Hours later, the armed men let go of the man but kept the bulldozer.

NNA - The Intelligence Directorate of the Lebanese Armed Forces in Bekaa arrested two Syrian nationals in Labweh locality in northern Bekaa for their involvement with Al Nusra Front.

Syrian shelling targets militants in Arsal's outskirts

NNA - Syrian army forces targeted Saturday afternoon armed militant groups in the areas of Assal el-Ward on the Syrian-Lebanese border and al-Rahwa in the outskirts of Arsal, using rocket and artillery shells, which resulted in the injury and death of several gunmen, NNA correspondent in Baalbek reported.

Three gunmen killed during attempt to sneak to Wadi Hmayed

The Lebanese Army succeeded in killing three gunmen --including a senior person in Daesh known as Al-Ansari -- during a failed attempt to enter Wadi Hmayed last night, National News Agency correspondent in Baalbek said on Thursday.

The field reporter added that the Army members also succeeded in imprisoning the gunman Khaled Ahmad Al-Waw who was injured during the confrontation and was transferred to the hospital to be treated.

Army repels infiltration by militants near Arsal

On 05 Apr 15, The Lebanese army foiled an infiltration attempt by gunmen near the northeastern border town of Arsal, killing a militant and detaining another. The military pointed out that militant Khalil Ahmed was killed, while Ahmed Karam al-Hassan was arrested in the operation. Both men are Syrians. Al-Hassa, according to the statement confessed that he and Ahmed are heading an armed group that is infiltrated to a terror organization. An investigation was launched under the supervision of the competent judiciary.

Militants Killed and Injured as Army Stops Infiltration Attempt

The Lebanese army was able to obstruct overnight a militant group from infiltrating Lebanon through the Wadi Hmayed area in the northeastern town of Arsal.

“The army clashed with armed militants in Wadi Hmayed and obstructed their attempts to infiltrate the town where they clashed with some of the residents pushing them to flee to the town's outskirts,” an army communique said on Thursday.

“The army was able to kill and wound several of the militants including Khaled Ahmed al-Wawa who was arrested and transported to hospital for treatment,” the statement added.
