Families of kidnapped soldiers stage sit-in in Doures

Families of the kidnapped soldiers staged a sit-in in Doures, and disrupted traffic in both ways. Protesters brandished slogans and banners in support of the Lebanese military and called for their release regardless of their confessional belonging, reporters added. Speaking at the behest of the protesters, Tarayya municipal head Mahdi Hamiyeh, highly commended the Body of Moslem Scholars for their mediation efforts with the terrorists and pleaded with people of Ersal to release the soldiers.

One killed, 7 injured in Tripoli explosion

One individual died and seven others received injuries in an explosion which rocked Khanak Bridge in Tripoli. Meanwhile, the city of Tripoli witnesses slow traffic movement, whereas trade shops and institutions regularly opened their doors. Tripoli-Akkar highway remained blocked by the Lebanese Army near Abu Ali roundabout, while traffic has been diverted towards the city's maritime road. Also, Syria road of Bab al-Tabbaneh remains blocked by a number of young locals who are protesting failure to enter humanitarian aid inside the battered region of Arsal.

Labweh locals block road before humanitarian assistance trucks

The trucks of food and medical assistance which was heading to the town of Arsal, could not continue their way to the town because they got intercepted by the locals in Labweh. The trucks returned and headed toward central Bekaa. While young people in Tripoli's Bab el Tebbaneh blocked the road near a gas station in a counter protest on preventing the humanitarian assistance's entry to Arsal. All roads have been re-opened by the Lebanese Armed Forces the following day.

Arsal people block road in Beirut, call for army to enter Arsal

A group of citizens from Arsal on Wednesday blocked the road in front of Mohammad Amine mosque in Beirut, urging that the army must enter Arsal in order to help take the wounded and sick citizens to hospital for treatment. Clashes between Army and militants in Arsal

Arsal fell to militants from Syria over the weekend (o2.August.2014), the first major incursion into Lebanon since the start of the Syrian conflict. Seventeen Lebanese soldiers have died in the fighting, and 19 soldiers are reported to still be held captive by the militants who released three soldiers and six internal security forces officers (ISF) on Wednesday. Syrian doctors working in the area have said that 42 civilians have been killed in the recent violence, which began on Saturday when the rebels seized Arsal.
