The Lebanese Army arrested 23 people Tuesday in raids carried out in Arsal’s Syrian refugee camps.

Raids targeted a number of camps in Arsal’s al-Jamaleh and al-Jafar areas, an Army statement said.

Seven were accused of previously being in contact with terrorist groups and arms dealers, and providing logistical support such as assisting smuggling operations, while the remaining 16 are wanted for “different reasons,” the statement added.

The army also seized various weapons that were found with the suspects.

A unit of the Lebanese army intelligence Directorate  arrested the wanted man Mohammed Ahmad Abdel Ghani Al-Hujairi, for his connection with the Syrian fleeing terrorist Sattam Al-Shatyawi, the key suspect involved in the bombing that targeted the town of Burj Al-Barajneh on 12/11/2015, army command said in a communiqué. 

The Lebanese Army arrested Tuesday a Syrian national suspected of belonging to a militant organization, a statement from the Army reported.

The man, identified as Hussein Mohammad Ammar al-Moqleb bil-Kashoush, was arrested for reportedly belonging to Jabhat Fatah al-Sham – the extremist group formerly known as the Nusra Front.
