Army arrests suspected terrorist in Arsal

Lebanese Army Intelligence arrested a Syrian national in the northeastern town of Arsal for his suspected involvement with terrorist organizations, the state-run National News Agency reported Tuesday.
The NNA identified the suspect as Y. al-Salamani, but the report provided no further details on the case.
The Army has been ramping up its arrest of suspected terrorists since the end of Fajr al-Joroud, an offensive military strike launched in August 2017 that drove out Daesh (ISIS) militants entrenched on the Lebanese-Syrian border.

وطنية - صدر عن قيادة الجيش - مديرية التوجيه البيان الآتي: "عثرت دورية من مديرية المخابرات بتاريخ اليوم في جرد بلدة عرسال - محلة وادي الخيل، على: 4 عبوات دولاب زنة كل واحدة منها 20 كلغ، 16 عبوة رمانات يدوية، 5 عبوات قذيفة هاون عيار 81 ملم، 50 حشوة دفاعية مذنبة، و2 شهاب مذنبة، جميعها من مخلفات التنظيمات الإرهابية، التي كانت موجودة في تلك المنطقة.

State Security arrests Syrian in Arsal on Daesh affiliation, soldiers' murder

A State Security unit arrested this Friday in Arsal the Syrian (Tajeddine R.) for the crime of fighting alongside the terrorist organization, Daesh, inside Lebanon, and for killing two Lebanese soldiers and kidnapping two others during the events of August 2014.

2 suspected Nusra Front members arrested

State Security announced the arrest of two men suspected of belonging to terrorist group the Nusra Front, in the northern district of Akkar, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The suspects, identified as Abdelrahman M. and Abdo M., are accused of attacking Lebanese Army positions in the northeastern town of Arsal in 2014.

The pair reportedly confessed to the charges brought against them.

وطنية - صدر عن قيادة الجيش - مديرية التوجيه البيان الآتي: بتاريخه، ضبطت وحدة تابعة لفوج الهندسة في الجيش، في جرود منطقة عرسال، كمية من العبوات والمتفجرات، ومن بينها ثلاث عبوات زنة 50 كلغ وثلاث عبوات زنة 30 كلغ، وعبوة زنة 20 كلغ، وأربعة ألغام مضادة للأفراد، جميعها من مخلفات التنظيمات الإرهابية.

وقد عملت هذه الوحدة على تفكيكها وتفجيرها في مكانها

One dead, two injured in landmine explosion in Arsal

One person was reported dead and two injured after a landmine, left behind by terrorists, went off in an agricultural road in Ajram region of Arsal outskirts, NNA reporter said on Tuesday.

The blast casualties were immediately transferred to "Dar Al-Rahma" hospital in Arsal, NNA reporter added.

ISF arrests man suspected of Arsal terrorism

The Internal Security Forces announced Thursday the arrest of a man suspected of belonging to the Nusra Front and fighting in the northeastern town of Arsal in 2014.

The suspect, identified in the ISF statement as Syrian national A.Q., born in 1995, was reportedly arrested by the ISF’s Information Branch in Arsal.

Upon interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to joining the Nusra Front – now known as Jabhat Fatah al-Sham – after having arrived in Lebanon in 2014 and settling in the Arsal area.
