Violent clashes erupt between IS and Nusra in Arsal

Fierce clashes erupted between Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Nusra Front terrorists in the outskirts of Arsal using heavy weapons, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries among militants on both sides, National News Agency correspondent said.

Army raids house of Ras Baalbeck explosion suspect in Arsal

The Lebanese army raided the house of the terrorist H.H. who is accused of Ras Baalbeck explosion, NNA field reporter said. 
The army was also raiding houses of other suspects who were revealed during investigations to be involved in said incident and their relation with armed men in Arsal outskirts. 
 

Two small explosives went off in Ras Baalbeck

Two small explosive devices went off after midnight in the town of Ras Baalbek, and no injuries have been reported, according to a communiqué released by the Lebanese Army Orientation Directorate. 

Lebanon network sent over $1M to Daesh

A Lebanon-based network has reportedly made over $1 million worth of cash transfers from Lebanon to Daesh (ISIS) militants based in Syria, judicial investigations have uncovered. The network sending the funds typically made use of informal couriers and legitimate money exchange shops in Lebanon, Turkey, Syria and Dubai. The transfers took place without encountering blocks against financing the group or having receipts issued. Instead, they were reportedly made using a password distributed via cellphone, or by using specific nicknames.

Army targeted senior members of Jabhat Fatah al-Sham

Artillery shelling by the Lebanese Army targeted cars carrying senior members of Jabat Fatah al-Sham – formerly the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front – on the outskirts of Arsal late evening. The state-run National News Agency reported that Army shelling and Helicopter bombardments hit positions belonging to Jabhat Fatah al-Sham and ISIS (Daesh) around Arsal and Ras Baalbeck, making a number of direct hits. The NNA gave no details of who was in the cars at the time of the strike or if there were any casualties, simply identifying them as senior members of Jabhat Fatah al-Sham.

 

Army arrests Syrian linked to Nusra Front

On 15 May 2017, the Lebanese Army released a statement announcing the arrest of a Syrian National suspected of belonging to the Nusra Front. The suspect was arrested for fighting alongside the extremist organization in the outskirts of Arsal, East Lebanon.

Syrian arrested in northeast Lebanon for weapons trading

General Security Monday announced the arrest of a Syrian charged with the selling of military weapons and munitions to militants in northeast Lebanon.

Following his arrest, the alleged weapons trader, identified by his initials T.Z., admitted to smuggling military weapons and munitions.

He said that he had been in touch with weapons traders and militant groups in order to secure the transfer of rockets, rifles, and military munitions to their locations on the outskirts of the border town of Arsal.

The location of his arrest was not disclosed by General Security.

Army arrests suspect in Arsal for smuggling Daech terrorists

The Lebanese army intelligence arrested on evening the suspect Ahmed Mohammed Amoun in the town of Arsal, for actively involved in the smuggling of terrorists affiliated to Daech Organization, NNA reporter said. 

The detained Amoun is associated with links to "logistics" in Daash and money smuggling network between Beirut, Arsal and outskirts.

Fatema Sultan arrested in Arsal for links to Daesh

Fatema Sultan was arrested on charges of planning to carry out a suicide attack against a Lebanese army post in the town of Arsal, and communicating with one of Daash commanders with the aim to join their ranks in Syria.
