LAF targets armed groups in Arsal outskirts

The Lebanese Armed Forces targeted armed militant groups in the outskirts of Arsal, attacking them with heavy artillery. A reconnaissance plane also assaulted key positions for these groups in Wadi Mira- Al Zamrani which led to injuries among their ranks.

Eight armed masked men steal quarry tools in Arsal, leave threat note

Eight armed and masked men in two pickup vehicles (a GMC and a black Takoma) stole on Thursday the tools of the quarry belonging to Bilal Mahmoud Hojairy in Arsal's Wady Zaarour, as our correspondent reported.

The robbers told the workers of the quarry to notify the owner that they "want his head" for collaborating with the army.

Army: Arrest of wanted men in Arsal, Danniyeh

The Army Command - Orientation Directorate - issued on Thursday the following statement: "In the framework of the prosecution of suspects in the attack against the army and the relationship with terrorist organizations, the army yesterday raided a number of places in Arsal and arrested 11 people. A patrol of the Directorate of Intelligence also detained a person in Danniyeh on suspicion of communicating with wanted." The detainees were handed over to the competent authority and investigations were initiated.

Lebanese Army expert killed as he dismantles bomb

A Lebanese soldier was killed and three others were wounded Wednesday as they approached to dismantle a bomb in northeast Lebanon, a security source said.

The source said the bomb exploded just as the military bomb disposal squad came within reach of the explosion on a side road in the village of Wadi Ata near the Arsal.

Army intelligence arrests wife of Nusra senior in Zgharta

The army intelligence arrested on Tuesday in Hilan in Zgharta the wife of Anas Sharkas, a senior leader in Nusra Front, and her brother, according to NNA field reporter in Zgharta.

It has been reported that Anas is connected to the issue of military hostages.

Kidnapped military men families head to Saifi to block road

The families of the kidnapped military men headed on Monday to Saifi, Beirut to cut the road, the NNA correspondent reported.

The decision came after they heard news about the abductors' intention to execute soldier Ali al Bazzal.

Armed persons open fire at Arsal municipality policemen

Armed persons riding a black Kia car opened fire in different directions at Arsal municipality policemen in the village's neighborhoods, National News Agency correspondent in Baalbeck reported on Saturday.

The field reporter added that the fire shooting came after Daesh warned the head of Arsal municipality of employing new municipality members who support the Lebanese Army.

Army dismantles bomb, mine in Akaba outskirts in Arsal

Members of the Lebanese Army are currently dismantling a bomb planted next to an earth road used by the Army at Al-Akaba outskirts in Arsal , National News Agency correspondent reported on Saturday.

The field reporter added that the Army members also found at the same place an anti-tank mine which weighs about 20 kg.

Anger among relatives of Arsal hostages as police use water cannons to disperse them

Police used on Friday water cannons against the relatives of the soldiers and policemen taken hostage by jihadists after the protesters and security forces pushed and shoved each other on a main road in Beirut, drawing large-scale condemnation from the families.

Police resorted to force after the families refused to open the Saifi road that they had blocked during the morning rush hour to protest the government's failure to secure the release of their sons.

Their peaceful sit-in, which lasted around one hour, caused bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Wanted hands himself over to army intelligence in Donieh

Ahmad H.Sh. from Donieh, involved in shooting army members during the attacks staged by gunmen in the region of Bhennine-Menieh, handed himself over today to the army intelligence in Akkar, National News Agency correspondent reported on Thursday.
