Syrian raids on militant posts in Arsal

Syrian air force launched an assault Wednesday night on posts of armed militants in Ajram, Khirbet Daoud and Zamarani in the outskirts of Arsal.
NNA field correspondent asserted in a report on Thursday that many militants were injured.

Army manages to halt militants in Arsal

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) have managed to stop advances of armed militants in Arsal, after they have been targeted by the Army forces with heavy artillery earlier today, resulting in a number of dead and injured. It is to note that none of the Lebanese soldiers were hurt.

Young men block Labweh road protesting Army measures

Labweh road leading to Arsal has been blocked by a group of young Lebanese and Syrian men protesting Army measures to inspect every car heading to Arsal outskirts, as well as a decision to limit access to the region by only allowing query owners to enter as of the beginning of 2015.
It is to note that the Lebanese Army has taken those strict measures in an attempt to preserve Arsal security and protect it from militants.

Arsal people demand abolishing LAF measures

Arsal town's people gathered on Sunday in the Rass Sarj region demanding that the LAF cancels its security measure regarding issuing permits to those wishing to cross into Wadi Homeid for work.

NNA correspondent reported that the LAF attempted to disperse the gatherers.

Arsal inhabitants block Ayn Shaab road in protest against LAF's security measures

The people of Arsal took to the streets on Sunday and cut-off the Ayn Shaab road with burning tires as a sign of defiance against recent security measures enforced by the LAF to tighten noose around armed militants.

NNA field correspondent reported that over 200 people gathered near a LAF checkpoint in Wadi Homeid, as soldiers fired rounds in the air in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

Army foils infiltration attempt in Wadi Al Hosn

A Lebanese Army unit on Friday successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by a number of militants in the region of Wadi Al Hosn in Arsal outskirts, leaving three militants dead, one of whom belongs to the so-called Nusra Front, NNA field reporter said.

LAF: Two arrested in Arsal, Saadnayel for terrorist charges

The Lebanese Armed Forces Orientation Directorate issued on Thursday the following statement:

"On December 24, 2014 a LAF task force apprehended in Arsal one Hamza Matar for belonging to a terrorist group and partaking in attacks against the army in said town. The LAF also arrested Abdel Nasser Dikko in the region of Saadnayel who is wanted for car theft and booby-trapping cars in Arsal. Both men were handed over to competent authorities."
