Hizbullah Links Fleita, Arsal Outskirts

Hizbullah fighters managed to link Monday the outskirts of the town of Fleita in the Syrian al-Qalamoun region with the edges of the northeastern border town of Arsal.

Hizbullah's al-Manar TV channel reported that the party also seized a number of valleys, including: Al-Turkman, al-Qusair, Aqbat al-Qusaira, al-Siri, al-Hariqa, and al-Tanine.

The party has succeeded recently in achieving gains against al-Qaida-affiliate al-Nusra Front in the area, compelling fighters to retreat from their positions.

Media allegedly reported that Hezbollah targeted 5 armed elements of Al Nusra Front in Wadi Al Raayan- Aarsal outskirts. They have also targeted 3 other members with an aimed rocket north hills of Al Bonjesa in Aarsal outskirts.

In Al Labweh – North Bekaa, the Lebanese Army Forces (LAF) detained a Syrian national who is the leader of a terrorist group in the Bekaa. The detainee was arrested while he was heading to the outskirts of Arsal to join armed elements.

Hezbollah seizes 15 positions on Arsal's outskirts

BEIRUT/BAALBEK: Hezbollah fighters Wednesday seized at least 15 positions from militants on the outskirts of a volatile northeastern border town, killing at least 11 militants, a security source said.

The source told The Daily Star Hezbollah fighters captured positions on the northern and southern outskirts of Lebanon's Arsal along the porous mountain range on Syria's western border.

On 03 June 15, media allegedly reported that violent clashes erupted between Hizbullah and al-Qaida-affiliate al-Nusra Front and several militants were killed and injured in the battles. Reports added that Hizbullah controlled new posts in the area of Aarsal outskirts; however the Defense Minister denied the eruption of battles on the outskirts of the northeastern border town Arsal in Lebanon's eastern mountain range.

Hezbollah fighters Wednesday seized additional hilltops along the Lebanon-Syria border, a security source said.

The source told The Daily Star Hezbollah fighters captured three hilltop positions to the north of the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal along an eastern mountain range.

Army Artillery Destroys Militant Vehicles in Arsal Outskirts

The Lebanese army opened heavy artillery fire Sunday from its posts in the northern Bekaa at movements by militants in the Wadi al-Ajram and al-Zamarani areas in the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, state-run National News Agency reported.
“The heavy artillery shelling destroyed several militant vehicles,” NNA said.
Earlier in the day, the agency had reported that the sounds of intense bombardment were heard in the Bekaa during “Syrian airstrikes on militant gatherings in al-Zamarani.”

Families of Captive Servicemen briefly close Riad Solh again

On 30 May 15, the families of the captive servicemen who were abducted in Arsal by armed militants briefly closed Riad al-Solh area in Beirut, voicing fear over the fate of their children. The families did not close the road for long and was reopened shortly.
