Lebanese Army Intelligence arrested Sunday 5 Syrians at one of its checkpoints between the towns of Labweh and Arsal, on suspicion of involvement with armed groups, NNA correspondent in Baalbek reported.

Arsal Gendarmerie arrested the Syrian Mohammed Maamoun Tfailieh (born in 1990) on suspicion of belonging to the armed terrorist groups in Arsal terrains, and handed him over to the concerned authorities, NNA correspondent in Baalbeck reported on Wednesday.

The military shelled the positions of gunmen on the outskirts of Arsal and Ras Baalbek. In the afternoon, the army shelled a group of IS militants who tried to infiltrate from Syria into the outskirts of the al-Naamat area in Lebanese territory, NNA said. “The Lebanese army's artillery bombardment thwarted their infiltration attempt and forced them to retreat,” the agency added. The militants from al-Nusra Front and the IS are taking the porous Lebanese-Syrian border as a hiding place.

Scores, Including Suspected Syrian Terrorists, Arrested

The Lebanese army said on Monday that it has arrested two Syrians on the main road of Labweh-Arsal in the eastern Bekaa Valley on suspicion of belonging to terrorist groups.
A communique issued by the military command identified the two suspects as Mohammed Mustafa al-Jaour and Khaled Mohammed al-Ghawi.

Army Destroys Vehicle Transporting Jihadists on Arsal Outskirts

The Lebanese army destroyed on Saturday a vehicle transporting gunmen on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, the state-run National News Agency reported. NNA said in the army's operation took place in Khirbet Daoud. The threat of jihadists, deployed on the porous Lebanese-Syrian border, rose a year ago when al-Nusra Front and Islamic State group fighters overran Arsal and engaged in heavy battles with the army.
The gunmen took with them hostages from the military and police and later executed four of them.
