On Thursday night, families of the missing persons from the death boat stormed the mansion of PM Najib Mikati in the Mina area of Tripoli, demanding answers about the fate of their loved ones. The families demanded a transparent investigation into the sinking of the boat by the army's navy. The authorities have not yet provided a definitive tally of the number of victims, missing persons, and survivors. The protesters attempted to storm the Mikati residence from several entrances.

In Beirut, demonstrators held a sit-in in front of the home of Prime Minister Najib Mikati, where security forces were deployed. "The castaways are the victims of the situation in the country, deputies from Tripoli and all of Lebanon," someone said. "We call on all leaders to resign", added another.

Tensions in the country remain high after at least six people were killed when a boat carrying migrants seeking to depart the country sank off the Tripoli coast late Saturday night. Tensions flared up again in Tripoli on Monday shortly after noon, with protesters blocking the road to Bab al-Tabbaneh with dumpsters. Shots were also reportedly fired during the funerals of the victims.
