NNA - The Internal Security Forces' (ISF) Directorate General issued the following statement on Friday: "The Information Branch of the ISF followed up on a phone call from a girl held captive and forced into sex work, and was able to apprehend in Khaldeh a Syrian national born 1975 named S.S. and liberate the two Syrian girls he held against their will for almost a month. One of the girls was the one who contacted the ISF. Intensive investigations revealed that the culprit lured the girls by promising them a career in the music industry. However, by the time the girls arrived in Khaldeh on 12-03-2016, the man confiscated their passports and held them inside an apartment, forcing them to perform sexual acts with various people for money that he collected. The ISF also discovered that the Syrian criminal was wanted for drug related charges. NNA - The Internal Security Forces Public Relations Unit issued a statement on Saturday saying that following intensive investigations, the ISF busted a prostitution ring in an apartment in Khaldeh locality inhabited by numerous girls. The counter human trafficking bureau raided said apartment and apprehended nine girls of Syrian, Egyptian and Lebanese nationalities. They also arrested their pimp, Syrian national A.A. (born 1988). On 25 Mar 16, dozens of people formed a human chain outside the Costa Brava landfill south of Beirut demanding it be closed. Residents from the Choueifat municipality and its surrounding areas gathered in front of the coastal area to object the government’s decision earlier this month to create a landfill there. | Corpse found near Khaldeh Highway |
A corpse was found lying beside a charred motorcycle near the Khaldeh Highway, south of Beirut Saturday. Security forces cordoned of the area, as a coroner and forensic experts gathered around the corpse to gather evidence. A security source told The Daily Star that the motorcyclist suffered from a medical condition that rendered him unconscious while riding. The motorcycle consequently flipped and caught fire. The blaze burnt the unidentified victim’s torso. On 24 Apr 15, a man was killed after four unidentified individuals opened fire at him in his cell shop in Dawhet Aramoun. The gunmen fled to an unknown destination, but shortly after, the ISF detained one of them who was wounded in the clash and was taken to the hospital for treatment by his friends. Between April and June 1976, Druze militias, with the support of the LAA and NM allies, were killing Christian civilians and destroying and looting their villages. These incidents prompted the Christian population to flee toward the Western Beqaa, Zahleh, and the Metn (Bikfaya), areas under the control of Christian militias. This offensive killed numerous civilians. On Paril 12, 1976, Caritas issued the following estimates: 95 villages were looted and their inhabitants displaced, 250,000 people were homeless, and 750,000 were in urgent need of food. |
