Guidelines for Women on Family Laws

This resource is a guide published by KAFA (enough) Violence and Exploitation, with the support of the Italian Government, in 2008. It includes guidelines intended to help the social worker in her interviews with women, enabling her to provide them with the proper basic legal information. The booklet aims at the enrichment of the social worker’s legal background, enabling her to answer women’s simple legal questions, namely in cases of emergencies which cannot wait until they get a specialized legal advice.

Summary Report: Syrian Women's NGOs and Geneva II

This research report provides an overview of the current situation of women's non-governmental organisations throughout Syria. Research focused on groups active in areas where opposition actors hold power, although many women’s groups make it clear that they are politically neutral and some operate in regime-controlled areas. The report explores their views on, and identifies opportunities for engagement with, the upcoming Geneva II conference and the Syrian peace process.

Assessment of Reproductive Health and Gender-Based Violence among Displaced Syrian Women in Lebanon

This study, supported by UNFPA, assessed the reproductive health and gender-based violence among displaced Syrian women in Lebanon between July and September 2012. The study included three focus groups, located in Irsal, Baalbek and Wadi Khaled, to which researchers distributed a questionnaire regarding demographics, displacement history, living conditions, health, reproductive health, pregnancy, violence, response and mental health. Concerning daily living needs, shortage of water and power were common, as were household utensils and appliances.

Sogi guide for refugee service providers

This resourse is a guidebook for refugee service providers in Lebanon who interect with LGBTI refugees, specifically male Iraqis. The guidebook provides a brief overview of the persecution that Iraqi gay men faced from militant groups in their home country and subsequently provides defintions of the terms relating to homosexuality. In addition, this resource dispels common misperceptions about homosexuality and discusses ways in which care providers can be more inclusive to LGBTI refugees. 

دراسة في التطبيقات القانونية المتعلقة بالحراك حول الجندر و الجنسانية في الأردن

The research will provide better understanding on the legislations and laws that authorities are using to control or oppress any movement or any type of activism on gender and sexuality issues in JORDAN. This research has to identify and retrieve information necessary to support legal decision-making. In its broadest sense, the legal research would include each step of a course of action that begins with an analysis of the facts of a problem and conclude with the application and communication of the results of the investigation. ​

Gender Statistics in Lebanon: Current Situation and Future Needs

The Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) and the World Bank organized a workshop entitled "Gender Statistics in Lebanon: Current Situation and Future Needs," which took place on June 17, 2010. Presentations during the workshop focused on the role of gender statistics in health, reproductive health, education, women's empowerment and influence and economic participation. This resource includes five presentations of studies regarding issues pertaining to gender equity in Lebanon.

متابعة أوضاع النساء والأطفال - المسح العنقودي متعدد المؤشرات

هذا التقرير قائم على المسح العنقودي متعدد المؤشرات الذي أجرته إدارة الإحصاء المركزي في لبنان في العام 2009. يقدم المسح بيانات قيمة عن اوضاع النساء و الاطفال في لبنان، و قد صمم في معظمه، على أساس الحاجة إلى رصد التقدم نحو تحقيق الاهداف التي وضعتها أحدث الاتفاقيات الدولية: إعلان الالفية الذي وقعت عليه جميع الدول الأعضاء في الامم المتحدة البالغ عددها 191 دولة، في سبتمبر عام 2000؛ وخطة عمل "عالم جدير بالاطفال" التي وقعت عليها 189 دولة من أعضاء الامم المتحدة في جلسة الامم المتحدة الخاصة حول الاطفال التي عقدت في مايو (أيار) من عام 2002.

Of War, Siege and Lebanon: Women’s voices from the Middle East and South Asia

This resourse, assembled by Women for Women's Human Rights (WWHR) - New Ways, is a compilation of texts written by Evelyne Accad, Pinar Ilkkaracan, Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian, Dina Siddiqi and Zeina Zaatiri. The idea for the compilation derived from the authors' correspondences on the Coalition for Sexual and Bodily Rights in Muslim Societies, a solidarity network of academics and NGOs in the context of the 2006 Lebanon War in the months of July and August.

أوضاع النساء اللبنانيات المتزوجات من غير لبنانيين

أنجزت الدكتورة فهميّة شرف الدين هذه الدراسة الميدانية التحليليّة، بالتعاون مع برنامج اللأمم المتحدة الإنمائي(مشروع حقوق المر أة اللبنانية وقانون الجنسية) واللجنة الاهلية لمتابعة قضايا المرأة، في 2009. وتهدف هذه الدراسة الى تبيان عدد النساء اللبنانيات المتزوجات من غير لبنانيين و أولادهن و أماكن توزّعهن من وجهة رقمية إحصائية. كما انها تهدف إلى التعرّف على أوضاع النساء الاجتماعية والاقتصادية و أزواجهن وجنسياتهم، وأبرز المشاكل التي تعترض حياة أسرهن وخاصة المشاكل التي تواجه أولادهن.

Women's Rights and Democracy in The Arab World

The popularity of the women’s rights cause and its obvious intrinsic merit have unfortunately generated many facile assumptions and much confusion about the conditions of women in the Middle East and the problems they face; about the relationship between women’s rights and democracy; and about what an outside intervenor like the United States can accomplish. This paper seeks to clarify some of these issues.
