يستكشف هذا البحث الموجات المختلفة للحركة النسوية في لبنان منذ خمسينات القرن العشرين وتشكيل الدولة القومية، مروراً بصعود "اليسار الجديد" في السبعينات، وانشقاقات يسار ما بعد الحرب الأهلية وعولمة القضية النسوية في التسعينات، وأخيراً، صعود "القضايا الجديدة" المرتبطة بالحقوق الجسدية التي تطوّرت ضمن الحركة المناهضة للإمبريالية وحركة العولمة البديلة في أوائل الألفية الثانية، والتي تستمر في سياق الثورات التي تشهدها المنطقة. كما يدرس البحث علاقة تلك "الموجات" بالنظام الأبوي اللبناني، فضلاً عن إعادة تشكيل و/أو تجديد الحركات الناشئة في ضوء الحراك الثوري.

This paper seeks to reflect on women's organizations in Lebanon. While women’s advocacy groups seemed to be gaining momentum in mobilization, acheiving reform is more problematic. In this vein, this paper attempts to problematize the complex relation between the sectarian regime in Lebanon as an agent of social control and the women’s movement.

This study looks into the detention and arrest of transwomen, viewing them as processes that define and re-enable gender- and body-policing rather than endpoints or markers of discrimination in themselves. Based on informal interviews, the paper argues that transwomen are more likely to be subjected to longer detention spans due to a system of detention and criminalization that breaks existing community ties and makes it difficult for transwomen to navigate their detention and release processes.
