Palestinians call upon UNWRA to address deteriorating living standards

 Residents of the Ain al-Hilweh camp called Monday upon the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees to increase its support to them.

Dozens of members of the Palestinian Popular Initiative protested in front of the UNRWA director’s office, raising banners that highlighted to the poverty that Palestinian people in Lebanon endure.

At the end of the protest, UNWRA's director in Ain al-Hilweh, Abdel-Nasser al-Saadi, was handed a note addressed to the agency's general director in Lebanon, Claudio Cordone.

Anti-refugee demonstration at EU Embassy

 For the second day running, a small group gathered outside the European Union's Embassy in Beirut to call for the return of Palestinian and Syrian refugees to their countries, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The demonstration was organized by a group called "Lebanon Uprise," which said on its Facebook page that it is a group for Lebanese citizens who "believe in Lebanon as a final home for its citizens, independent and free."

People with special needs their families demand 2019 dues

People with special needs, their families and organizations gathered across the country Tuesday, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and demand the release of the state’s contributions for 2019.

Crowds gathered at the Maronite Church seat in Bkirki, south Lebanon’s Hasbaya and Sidon, Baalbeck in the east and Tripoli in north Lebanon.

Adults and children with special needs held signs that read: “I’m just like you” and “#Social_Earthquake.”

Reforestation initiative organized in Bisri Valley

وطنية - يستمر "مخيم الثورة" في مرج بسري لليوم ال22 على التوالي.

ويخيم في المرج اليوم عدد كبير من المواطنين من مختلف المناطق، فيما تبني مجموعة من المهندسين المعماريين والطلاب خيمة خشبية على شكل قبة، من الخشب الذي قطعه متعهدو السد، للتأكيد أن أشجار المرج ليست للتجارة والتحاصص.

وسيتخلل النهار حملة تشجير عند الثانية والنصف من بعد الظهر. وتبدأ عند السابعة مساء سهرة نار مع فرقتين موسيقيتين.

 

The civil campaign to protect the Dalieh of Raouche

The “Civil Campaign to Protect the Dalieh of Raouche” (CCPDR) emerged in March 2013 to advocate for the preservation and enhancement of the role of Dalieh as an open-access shared space for all city dwellers and visitors. CCPDR is a coalition of individuals and non-governmental organizations who share a strong commitment to the preservation of Beirut’s shared spaces, ecological and cultural diversity as the pillars of the city’s livability.

Protest against hate speech in front of the the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon

A group gathered to object to the initial protest, saying it encouraged hate speech against refugees. “What they are saying is instigation against people in a situation worse than ours. We’re leaving the main problem and throwing it on the refugees,” one of the protesters said. “This is veiled hatred.”

Protests against refugee integration in front of the the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon

 A demonstration was held on Friday outside the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, against the integration of Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. About 50 people gathered with Lebanese flags, calling for the return of Syrian and Palestinian refugees to their countries. European countries have been accused by Lebanese officials of encouraging the permanent stay of refugees in Lebanon.

 توجه عدد من المحتجين باتجاه عدد من المحطات ونفذوا عند مداخلها وقفات احتجاجية مطالبين إياها تعليق الاضراب وتزويد المواطنين بالبنزين، لاسيما ان تحرك اصحاب المحطات لا يخدم المواطن ويصيبه في معيشته وينعكس سلبا عليه على كل الأصعدة.

Enraged tenants protest on Hamra Street

Angry tenants protested on Hamra Street in Beirut denouncing a surge in old low-rent buildings.

Head of the National Federation of Professional Syndicates and Unions (FENASOL) Castro Abdullah spoke condemning the situation.
