Palestinians call upon UNWRA to address deteriorating living standards

Residents of the Ain al-Hilweh camp called Monday upon the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees to increase its support to them.

Dozens of members of the Palestinian Popular Initiative protested in front of the UNRWA director’s office, raising banners that highlighted to the poverty that Palestinian people in Lebanon endure.

At the end of the protest, UNWRA's director in Ain al-Hilweh, Abdel-Nasser al-Saadi, was handed a note addressed to the agency's general director in Lebanon, Claudio Cordone.

The memo included a number of demands that would relieve the hardships of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and called upon the agency to implement an emergency relief plan that would cover all social, educational and health needs until a solution is found to the delicate situation in Lebanon.
