People with special needs their families demand 2019 dues

People with special needs, their families and organizations gathered across the country Tuesday, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and demand the release of the state’s contributions for 2019.

Crowds gathered at the Maronite Church seat in Bkirki, south Lebanon’s Hasbaya and Sidon, Baalbeck in the east and Tripoli in north Lebanon.

Adults and children with special needs held signs that read: “I’m just like you” and “#Social_Earthquake.”

The mobilization on the ground was led by social organizations to shed light on the financial difficulties they are experiencing while demanding the release of the 2019 funds provided by the state.

Multiple centers that care for people with special needs closed their doors this year as the government failed to pay 2018 dues until later in the year.
