Beirut residents protested against the increasing number of power cuts in some districts of the city. A number of neighborhoods in and around Ras Beirut have since June seen the length of their electricity cuts increased due to technical failures.

Parents, university and school students protest

Last month, tens of students were told that they failed their baccalaureate and brevet exams after the initial results were changed, drawing the ire of parents.

After announcing the grades of the Second Exceptional Sessions of the Official Baccalaureate and Brevet Exams earlier this year, the results were retracted and published fifteen minutes later. The newly published results showed a number of students failing grades after initially passing.

AUB, LAU students protests tuition fees in USD

Students of the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese American University protested Tuesday at their respective campuses against the dollarization of their tuition fees.

A decision earlier this year from AUB called on students to pay their tuition in U.S. dollars.

FPM supporters in Bikfaya clashes with Kataeb

The Lebanese Army intervened late Tuesday to push back local residents as a convoy of Free Patriotic Movement supporters attempted to drive through the area and criticize a local politicians.

The FPM supporters organized a convoy of cars toward Metn’s Bikfaya, near the residence of former President Amine Gemayel.

One FPM supporter told local TV channel Al Jadeed that supporters of the Kataeb Party were criticizing the FPM’s founder and Lebanese President Michel Aoun. “All of them means all of them, and Amine Gemayel is the leader of the corrupt,” the protester said.

Hezbollah and Amal protest

Thousands of Hezbollah and Amal supporters filled streets in Beirut’s southern suburbs, chanting sectarian slogans and pledging blind allegiance to the leaders of both parties.

“With our blood, with our souls, we will sacrifice for you Nabih,” the crowd in Beirut’s southern suburbs chanted, in reference to Amal Movement leader Nabih Berri.

ISF intervenes to end scuffle between FPM supporters and protesters in Baabda

وطنية - افادت مندوبة "الوكالة الوطنية للاعلام" في بعبدا عن حصول تلاسن كلامي حاد بين مجموعات المتظاهرين على طريق القصر الجمهوري.

كما حصل تدافع بين مناصري "التيار الوطني الحر" والجيش لمنعهم من الانضمام الى المجموعة الاولى من مناصري "التيار".

وطنية - افاد مندوب "الوكالة الوطنية للاعلام" عن تجمع عدد من شبان حماة مرج بسري، في هذه الاثناء، امام مخفر مزرعة الضهر في بلدة جون في اقليم الخروب، تضامنا مع مجموعة من شبان الحماة البالغ عددهم 9 اشخاص الذين تم استدعاءهم للمخفر بتهمة كسر بوابات مشروع السد.

Amal and Hezbollah supporters sit-in at the Ring Bridge and clash with protesters

Amal and Hezbollah supporters arrived at the Ring Bridge and chanted slogans in support of their political leaders. Scores of men arrived on the bridge on mopeds, attacking protesters and members of the media. Security forces intervened soon afterwards and pushed the men back. A large number then headed towards Downtown Beirut and began destroying tents in the Azarieh parking lot, before being pushed back up towards the Ring by security forces.
