Protesters block the Nabatie - Kfar Dajjal road

A group of young protesters burned banners this evening in the middle of the main road between Kfar Dajjal and Nabatieh. They gathered in the middle of the road to protest against the poor living conditions and the economic situation while chanting slogans against state and government officials. An internal security force patrol came to the scene and monitored the youth movement. 

Protesters organize sit-in at Abdel Hamid square in Tripoli

Abdul Hamid Karami square in the center of Tripoli witnessed a sit-in during which participants burned political slogans that had been raised earlier in the square, as well as setting fire to a number of tires. Statements by protesters were made condemning the current economic crisis.

Residents block Ansar-Doueir road in protest of Bsawfar landfill

A number of residents of Ansar staged a sit-in on the highway of Ansar - Dueir at the invitation of Ansar Organization in the Lebanese Communist Party, in protest against the ministerial decision to re-open the Bsawfar landfill, which has been closed for obver 20 years. 

Protesters block multiple roads in Beirut over economic woes

Protesters blocked several entrances to Downtown Beirut with burning tires and garbage bins after briefly clashing with riot police outside the Grand Serail in a show of public exasperation at the country's economic situation.Hundreds had gathered in Martyrs’ Square earlier in the day to protest Lebanon’s poor economic situation. Over a hundred riot police and Internal Security Forces members were deployed to protect state buildings in the area.The protesters marched from Martyrs' Square in an attempt to enter Parliament.

 

Protesters block Laboueh - Nabi Osmane road with burning tires

 The international road of Baalbek-Homs in the northern Bekaa was cut off in Laboueh and Nabi Osmane districts with burning tires by protesters due to the deteriorating economic situation

Gas station owners decide on an open ended strike

The head of the Syndicate of Gas Stations Owners in Lebanon, Sami Brax, communicated that the occurence of an open-ended strike, as agreed upon by the majority of gas station owners, until an agreement with officials has been reached in terms of their demands. 

Workers st Nabih Berri Governmental Hospital sit-in

Employees of Nabih Berri University Hospital held a symbolic sit-in at its entrance, demanding that the adjustment of salaries as granted to a number of government hospitals in Lebanon. They are demanding the  implementation of Law 46 pertaining to the annual adjustment of wages. The head of the Union of Governmental Hospitals staff in the South, Ali El Sayed, declared the possible escalation of the sit-in and the closure of government hospitals in the South if the employees were not granted their rights.

Students join global environment strike

Students marched from Horsh Beirut to Martyrs’ Square Friday morning to protest the government’s failure to address environmental degradation. The Lebanon chapters of activist groups Fridays for Future and Extinction Rebellion organized the demonstration in solidarity with a global movement of student walkouts intended to call attention to climate change. About 50 people attended the strike in Beirut Friday, joining an estimated 1 million protesters in over 150 countries. Protesters stated that this protest will be repeated on Fridays. 

Mobile phone workers protest outside the Ministry of Telecommunications

Hundreds of mobile phone industry workers gathered outside the Telecommunications Ministry Thursday, calling upon the government to ensure that previously agreed salary allowances will be maintained in new work contracts.
