Students join global environment strike

Students marched from Horsh Beirut to Martyrs’ Square Friday morning to protest the government’s failure to address environmental degradation. The Lebanon chapters of activist groups Fridays for Future and Extinction Rebellion organized the demonstration in solidarity with a global movement of student walkouts intended to call attention to climate change. About 50 people attended the strike in Beirut Friday, joining an estimated 1 million protesters in over 150 countries. Protesters stated that this protest will be repeated on Fridays.
