Mobile phone workers protest outside the Ministry of Telecommunications
Hundreds of mobile phone industry workers gathered outside the Telecommunications Ministry Thursday, calling upon the government to ensure that previously agreed salary allowances will be maintained in new work contracts. The protest was organized by the Mobile Operators Syndicate after Communications Minister Mohammad Choucair informed the workers that the ministry had not agreed on the payment of an annual salary increase owed to them, and that it could not give guarantees to safeguard the rights and benefits included in a previous collective work contract.
