To mark the 25th month since the explosion, relatives of the those killed in the deadly August 4, 2020 port blast gathered Sunday afternoon in front of the Statue of the Emigrant, opposite what remains of the wheat silos at the Beirut port. As they have done every fourth of the month since the tragedy, a few dozen demonstrators demanded justice for the more than 220 victims killed in tragedy, as well as for the 6,500 people injured. At 6:07 p.m., the exact moment of the tragedy, the demonstrators observed a minute of silence.

Several family members of those arrested in the Beirut port explosion file protested Friday in front of the house of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Suhail Abboud, to demand an end to the “injustice against their family members” and are calling for their immediate release, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The Lebanese Army on Thursday evening launched tear gas to disperse protesters who blocked the Minieh-Tripoli highway, in both directions, set tires on fire and held a sit-in for the second evening in a row, in front of the Deir Ammar power plant in northern Lebanon to protest power outages, our correspondent in the area reported.
