On 25 Mar 16, at 2333hrs, cross-border shooting took place in Wadi Khaled area. As per media reports, armed elements infiltrated Lebanese territories and took over a LAF monitoring tower. LAF initiated a counter attack to take it back.

NNA - A patrol from the Information Branch of the ISF in south Lebanon apprehended on Saturday Palestinian national Rabih R. (born 1978) wanted for transporting arms and ammunition.

The Palestinian has a standing court sentence against him for a year and six months of jail.

A sandstorm lashed several regions in the Bekaa, North and South on Monday, landing scores of people in hospitals and bringing visibility to extremely low levels.
The Meteorological Department at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport described the storm as “unprecedented” in Lebanon's modern history, OTV said.
The National News Agency said the Red Cross transferred at least 35 people suffering respiratory distress to hospitals in the northern region of Akkar.
In northern Bekaa, a woman identified as Jumana Ali al-Laqqis died of a severe asthma attack at the Baalbek state-run hospital, NNA said.
“Dust encircled homes in the regions of al-Bireh, al-Qobaiyat, Jabal Akroum, Wadi Khaled, Khirbet Daoud all the way to Akkar's coast,” the agency said.
In the Bekaa, the sandstorm hit the city of Hermel and the area adjacent to Akkar and Dinniyeh, causing low visibility and an accumulation of garbage on streets and in irrigation canals. Dozens of residents were transferred to hospitals in the region.
The storm also lashed Baalbek and the neighboring areas, reducing visibility to near zero and causing a surge in temperature.

The Citizen Abdel Razzak Khaled's house in Al-Boukayaa in Wadi Khaled region was subject to fire shooting from the Syrian side, National News Agency correspondent reported.
The field reporter added that none of Khaled's family (his wife and his three children) was injured and only material damages occurred.

NNA - Army patrols have been inspecting the whereabouts of Wadi Khaled villages since Monday morning, NNA field reporter said.
The Army has also set up security checkpoints in the bordering villages of Wadi Khaled, checking identities and inspecting cars.

On 09 Apr 15, the Army Intelligence succeeded in freeing an Iraqi hostage who was kidnapped earlier during the day, announced the army in a statement. The Iraqi national was kidnapped in the border region of Wadi Khaled in exchange for a ransom. Army Intelligence units managed to pinpoint the location of the abductors and later raided the area. It freed the hostage and arrested Lebanese national who masterminded the kidnapping. He has a criminal record and was previously tried for various offenses. A number of weapons used in the kidnapping were seized.

One was killed and two were injured on Thursday evening as a Lebanese Army force intercepted illegal movement by seven individuals who were trying to illegally enter Lebanon through the bordering region of Sawyri, a Lebanese Army communiqué said.

In further details, the Army Force had warned the group of infiltrators to stop several times, but the army orders were met with disobedience as the group of seven individuals tried to escape.

The Army duly opened fire and chased the feeling group and managed to arrest Lebanese national, Imad Ahmad Zrar, and Syrian national, Saleh Saber Al Mohammad. Also, Lebanese citizen, Khaled Hammoud, received severe injuries which later resulted in his death, the Army statement added.

Shooting emanating from the Syrian side targeted the Lebanese banks of Nahr Kabeer River in the outskirts of Wadi Khaled's Bani Sakher town, inflicting material damage to some properties, NNA Correspondent in Akkar reported on Monday.

A person was killed in an individual clash between people of Hmaidan and Al-Assaad families in Rajam Khalaf village in Wadi Khaled, National News Agency correspondent reported on Wednesday.

The field reporter added that a fight between persons from the said families was followed by opening fire which led to the injury of M.A Hmaidan who was transferred by Lebanese Red-Cross members to "Notre Dame de la Paix" hospital in Kobeiyat village where he passed away a while after.

Security forces interfered to end the fight, restore calm to the region and pursue the perpetrators.

An Army force on Saturday dawn arrested 8 persons and confiscated an amount of war ammunition inside their houses at Wadi Khaled border region, National News Agency correspondent said.

The field reporter noted that the persons were arrested and the ammunition was confiscated during the said force raid operations along the borderline of Khat El-Petrol (Petroleum line) and Al-Bikaiyat villages in Wadi Khaled border region.

He added that investigations were opened with the detainees in order to refer them with the confiscated ammunition to concerned judiciary authorities.

The family of Mohammad Hussein Al-Ahmad --detained in Syria--, closed the road in Wadi Khaled region in Akkar at the entrance of the border Boukaiaa village by burning tires.
Mohammad's mother called upon the General Security Chief, Major- General Abbas Ibrahim, to work to release her son, especially that they had information that he is at one of the security stations in Syria.

Later, the families of the soldier Mohammad Khaled Al-Assaad and the citizen Imad Mohammad Al-Assaad, both detained in Syria, joined Al-Ahmad's family, saying they would escalate their moves if no actions were taken to release their sons.
