Protesters block roads in Tripoli over electricity cuts and water shortages

Angry residents in Lebanon’s second city of Tripoli have taken to the streets to protest power cuts and water shortages, while the country’s state electricity grid has gone down after two power plants ran out of fuel Residents blocked roads in the Bab al-Tabbaneh quarter of Tripoli as well as the city’s Abou Ali roundabout and Al-Nour Square, an iconic site in the center of the city where protests are often held, according to our sister publication L'Orient-Le Jour.
