Ain al-Hilweh residents shutter UNRWA offices
The victims of recent Ain al-Hilweh clashes - August 2017 - shut down UNRWA offices in the area of the southern city of Sidon in protest against reported discrimination in compensation for damages. The closure is the result of UNRWA’s "unjust decision," which distinguishes between affected neighborhoods that are compensated for the unfortunate clashes in the camp. The provided compensation, according to the protesters, does not include many of the houses and areas affected by the August clashes, which left four dead, dozens wounded and destroyed large parts of the camp.
