WVi: Feel the warmth

World Vision started providing critically needed heating equipment to Syrian refugee families in Central and West Bekaa in Lebanon as storms and heavy rain worsened their deteriorating situation last week.
With approximately 40 stoves and their wooden protective fences distributed today, World Vision will upscale to more than 1,000 families this week. Refugees will also be receiving fuel coupons to heat up the stoves over the coming three months to survive the cold weather in poor accommodation and substandard shelters.

MdM: mental health services

MdM psychologists are present in the health care centres in order to deal with psychosomatic complaints and provide consultations and referral to more specific mental health care when needed.

MdM: support in the provision of reproductive health services

A lot of consultations in the health care centres are dedicated to antenatal and postnatal care. Family planning and awareness sessions take place in the health care centres and mobile medical unit.

MdM assists the Al Qaa primary health care centre through: financial support, supply in essential drugs, capacity-building and new recruitments

MdM assists Amel in the management of a mobile medical unit, covering areas around Kamed El Loz: financial support, supply in essential drugs, capacity-building and new recruitments

MdM: support in the provision of primary health care services

MdM assists Amel in the management of Al Ain and Kamed El Loz health care centres through:
- Financial support, so that the centres and mobile unit can offer completely free medical consultations for pregnant women and children under five as well as receive any vulnerable person in return for a symbolic contribution;

- Supply in essential drugs, in order for the patients to access free treatment;

- Capacity-building of the medical teams and new recruitments, to cope with the rising number of consultations.

WFP: Food Parcel Distributionn

Each month WFP distributes Food Parcels, weighning 42.8kg, and containing mixed rations for a family of five, to newly arrived Syrian Refugees who are awaiting registration with UNHCR. In July 2013 WFP distributed Food Parcels for approximately 39,000 newly arrived Syrian refugees.

WFP: Food Voucher Distribution

Each month WFP distributes Food Vouchers worth US$27 per beneficiary to Syrian Refugees registered with UNHCR. So far in August 2013, WFP distributed approximately US$14m in vouchers to almost 490,000 Syrian refugees.

DRC:Syrian Refugee Emergency Response

Protection monitoring and case management, SGBV interventions and child protection. Support to persons with special needs / extremely vulnerable individuals. Direct assistance to identified Extremely Vulnerable Individuals.

DRC: Syrian Refugee Emergency Response: Skills training and activities in community centers

Activities include skills training (sewing, hairdressing and beauty therapy, nursing), as well as counseling, psychological support, recreational activities for children, small scale community development projects. Four community centres are now operating in North Lebanon and Bekaa. Moreover, Community Support Projects are implemented in order to help support Lebanese hosting communities and displaced Syrians. DRC supported dispensaries with equipments, constructed playgrounds, provided electric generators and supported agriculture cooperatives.
