South Lebanon demonstrators gather after Friday prayers, demand amnesty for Assir supporters

On 27 Jan 17, scores of south Lebanon residents protested after Friday prayers in Saida the state’s treatment of radical Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir’s supporters. Islamists and relatives of fighters detained with Assir called on worshippers leaving the Al-Hussein Mosque in the city to join their protest. The protesters demanded amnesty for all detainee.
