Solidarity March in Saida
Palestinians and Lebanese took to the streets of Saida in solidarity with their compatriots living in occupied territory. The marchers, some holding torches, walked from old Saida to the courtyard of the Saida Serail, chanting slogans along the way. The march transformed into a festival atmosphere at the Serail, with those gathered singing songs dedicated to the Palestinian cause, joined by well-known Palestinian singer Amal Kaawash, and younger children playing games. The march took place the same day that two further Palestinians died of wounds sustained in protests at the fence dividing Gaza from Israel. Israeli troops killed 60 Palestinians during protests last Monday, during the deadliest day of cross-border violence since 2014. Since the demonstrations began on March 30, more than 110 Palestinians have been killed and more than 2,500 wounded by live fire, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry
