Une mémoire d’intimité et de destruction : filmer la famille depuis la guerre civile au Liban

Introduction

En choisissant de donner une dimension profondément familiale à l’une des « petites guerres » qu’évoque son film éponyme, celle d’un fils de zaim qui doit assurer la direction familiale après le kidnapping de son père, Maroun Bagdadi confère dès 1982 une tonalité spécifique aux enjeux de représentation de la guerre civile libanaise (1975-1990), en liant la violence de la guerre aux rôles genrés au sein de la famille, et l’intimité personnelle au drame national (Khatib 2007).

Civil Society Review issue 6 - War: a catalyst for the transformation of families in the Middle East. Case studies from Lebanon, Yemen, Palestine, and Syria.

The articles (scientific papers as well as testimonies) gathered in this issue constitute a timely reflection on the longitudinal and relational aspects of war and how they impact societies at large, and mold families on a smaller scale. The issue also offers insights on the reconfiguration of gender roles and shifting roles of women in societies in times of conflict.

يشيد مركز العلوم الاجتماعية للأبحاث التطبيقيّة (CeSSRA) باعتماد لبنان الاستراتيجية الوطنيّة الأولى للحماية الاجتماعيّة التي تشكّل نقطة محورية نحو العدالة الاجتماعية في البلد. وتمثّل هذه الاستراتيجية خطوةً حاسمةً لإرساء عقدٍ اجتماعيٍّ جديدٍ بين الدولة ومواطنيها، تكون الحقوق الاجتماعيّة إحدى ركائزه الأساسيّة.
 

Statement on Lebanon's adoption of its long-awaited National Social Protection Strategy

The Centre for Social Sciences Research and Action (CeSSRA) applauds Lebanon’s adoption of its first-ever National Social Protection Strategy which constitutes an important milestone towards social justice in the country. This strategy represents a crucial step in establishing a new social contract between the state and its citizens, with social rights as one of its main pillars.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been periodically assessing the economic and financial situation in Lebanon since 2006, under the Article IV report, that covers non-borrowing countries.

Casualisation, precarity, and permanent instability of informal workers. A look at the working conditions of waiters and bartenders in Lebanon.

This paper looks at “informal employment” through the lens of workers in the food and beverage service industry (mainly waiters and bartenders) in Lebanon in 2022/2023. It focuses on the labor conditions and multiple challenges faced by these workers, as well as the impact of “informal employment” on the professional and personal lives of these workers in times of economic crisis.

The Lebanese social protection system was from its inception, and through its historical development, a fragmented system characterised by, on the one hand, scattered contributory-based schemes and, on the other, by ineffective and time-bound social assistance programmes. This report addresses the various aspects of the failures and near collapse of the NSSF following the economic and financial crisis in Lebanon since 2019.

هذا التقرير عبارة عن دراسة تحليلية تتناول أثر الأزمة الاقتصادية اللبنانية المتعددة المستويات وتداعياتها على صعيد الحماية الاجتماعية في لبنان. ويهدف التقرير إلى دراسة آليات الحماية الاجتماعية وأنظمة الرعاية الصحية والتغطية الفعلية في لبنان في ظل أزمة اجتماعية واقتصادية مستمرة تعصف بالبلد منذ بدء الانهيار المالي في أواخر العام ۲٠۱۹. تستند الدراسة إلى استطلاعٍ أُجريَ بين شهرَيْ تموز/يوليو وآب/أغسطس ۲٠۲۲، من خلال عيّنة تمثيلية تضم ۱٣۲٧ مُستطلَعًا/ة من الجنسية اللبنانية. لقد كانت العينة متوازنة بين الجنسَيْن، وشملت ۲٦ من الأقضية الموزعة بين جميع المحافظات الثماني.
