Lebanese Army troops forcibly prevent families of Beirut blast victims from staging a sit-in in Kaslik to protest the demolition of the grain silos and the delay in the probe

Lebanese Army troops forcibly prevented relatives of the victims of the August 4, 2020 port blast from gathering for a protest outside the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) on Friday, where President Michel Aoun was attending an Easter Good Friday service, according to one of the protest leaders, who said the troops also assaulted some of the demonstrators.

Families of Beirut blast victims march from Gemmayzeh to the Statue of the Emigrant to demand justice and truth

Dozens protested near the Beirut port to mark 20 months since the August 4, 2020, explosion. The demonstration was organized by the families of the victims, who marched from Beirut’s Gemmayzeh neighborhood to the port to demand justice. During the march, the protesters held up portraits of their relatives who were killed by the blast, along with those of the injured. They held a sit-in at Statue of the Emigrant at the exact time of the tragedy, 6:17 p.m.

وطنية - صيدا - نفذ عدد من أهالي موقوفي أحداث عبرا وشباب مسجد بلال بن رباح، ظهر اليوم، اعتصاما  امام مسجد الحاج بهاء الدين الحريري في صيدا، بعنوان "كفى ظلما، أطلقوا سراحهم فورا".

وألقى ابراهيم الرواس كلمة باسم الأهالي، دعا فيها إلى "وقف الظلم الذي يمارس على أهل السُّنة في لبنان"، وقال: "أوقفوا ظلمكم علينا وأطلقوا سراح الشيخ أحمد الاسير وإخوانه وجميع المشايخ والمظلومين فورا، لأن ذنبهم الوحيد هو أنهم رفضوا الظلم في لبنان والمنطقة".

Families of Akkar explosion victims block several roads in Akkar to protest government inaction

Relatives of the victims of an explosion of an illegal gasoline depot in the Akkar village of Tleil last August blocked roads in several areas in Akkar, North Lebanon, Monday. They protested the government’s negligence in dealing with human consequences of the explosion, which killed around thirty people and injured a hundred others, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in North Lebanon reports. People injured in the explosion criticized government negligence of their daily needs, particularly in the matter of treating their injuries, which prevent them from working.
