The Lebanese army shot a Syrian national in the leg on Friday after he attempted to escape during an army raid on the Bekaa border area of Masharii al-Qaa, the state-run National News Agency said. The Lebanese army carried out raids on the Syrian encampments in the area, NNA said on Friday.

Army carried out wide raids to the displaced Syrian camps in Masharii Al-Kaa and arrested a number of persons for breaching the terms of their legal residency, National News Agency correspondent reported on Wednesday. The field reporter pointed out that the raids aimed at searching for weapons and illegal stuff, adding that the arrested were transferred to the concerned authorities to investigate with them and fix their status.

The former head of the Al-Qaa municipality in Baalbek was apprehended by Internal Security Forces Thursday for allegedly killing a man five years ago.
The former mayor was identified by his initials as J.N. According to the ISF he allegedly murdered his brother-in-law Shawki Maalouf when he shot him with an assault rifle in 2010 over to longstanding dispute.
Maalouf died instantly while J.N. fled the scene and became a fugitive. The ISF Information Branch conducted prolonged investigations and surveillance operations in an effort to track down J.N.
The culprit was apprehended at around 1:30 p.m. by a patrol belonging to the ISF’s Information Branch while driving a black Mercedes in one of Lebanon’s southern districts. He was then handed to the ISF in the south and investigations are ongoing by a the relevant judge.

On 27 July 15, the Lebanese Army Forces (LAF) targeted using heavy artillery the movement of armed elements in the outskirts of Al Qaa, Arsal and Ras Baalbeck.

Lebanese Army Intelligence members raided today (Saturday) dawn "Masharii al-Kaa " village and arrested the two wanted Ghazi El-Hajj Hassan and Shadi Karnabi over tampering with the region's security, National News Agency correspondent reported.
The field reporter added that the two arrested persons were injured during the fire exchange between them and the Lebanese Army Intelligence members and were transferred to Hermel governmental hospital.

Hizbullah repelled Tuesday an attack by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on the outskirts of the north Bekaa border areas of al-Qaa and Ras Baalbek near Syria's border. The party's media outlets reported that fighters from Hizbullah thwarted an assault by ISIL jihadists at dawn on al-Mazbaha hilltop between Jouseih and al-Qaa.
ISIL reportedly targeted several Hizbullah posts in the attack. Hizbullah fighters inflicted several casualties in the ranks of the Islamist group, destroying around 10 vehicles, reports said.

Clashes are ongoing in the area.

On Monday, Hizbullah managed to link the outskirts of the town of Fleita in the Syrian al-Qalamoun region with the edges of the northeastern border town of Arsal.

The party has succeeded recently in achieving gains against al-Qaida-affiliate al-Nusra Front in the area, compelling fighters to retreat from their positions.

Hizbullah insists it is fighting in Syria to prevent extremist groups from entering Lebanon.

On Friday, Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah claimed that the party managed to "liberate dozens of square kilometers" of land in al-Qalamoun, pushing back al-Nusra Front and its allies.

He vowed that Hizbullah will next turn its sights on the Islamic State group which has seized chunks of Syria and Iraq.

The Army thwarted an infiltration attempt by armed men into al-Qaa's outskirts on Sunday night using heavy artillery and flare bombs, NNA field reporter said.

The Army Intelligence arrested on Tuesday two people in Masharii Al-Qaa on charges of involvement with the Nusra Front, as reported by the NNA correspondent.

The Lebanese Army Intelligence arrested on Thursday Syrian Amer Saleh Amer, in Kaa, the NNA correspondent reported. Amer is wanted for smuggling weapons across borders and fighting against the Army.

Unidentified assailants on Tuesday kidnapped the citizen Khaled Hujairi (from the town of Arsal) and his brother in law and his son in Qaa Projects, taking them to an unknown destination. Reasons remained unknown.

In al-Qaa, in the Beqaa, close to the Syrian-Lebanese border, two Israeli air strikes killed at least 23 Syrian agricultural workers, including 5 women.
