Baalbeck tightens security after overnight shoot-out
Army units deployed in Baalbeck on Wednesday, upon a request from the Baalbeck-Hermel governor to “end the security chaos” in the wake of a shooting that occurred at the local market overnight. The security measures were imposed after a phone call between Governor Bashir Khodr and Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Joseph Aoun, the state-run National News Agency reported. Members of the al-Kayal and Othman families exchanged gunfire Tuesday night at Baalbeck’s local market, after tensions escalated that carried over from previous disputes, according to local media
