Attempt to smuggle cocaine through Beirut airport foiled

Customs officials arrested a Spanish national for allegedly attempting to smuggle two kilograms of cocaine into Lebanon, an airport source told The Daily Star. The man had traveled to Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport via Ethiopian Airlines and hid the cocaine in a number of sealed bags that resembled bags of chips, the source said. He did not have immediate information on the suspect's city of departure. He was transferred to the judiciary for further investigation.
