The family of Hasan Yaacoub Saturday blocked the vital Dahr al-Baidar highway linking Beirut with the Bekaa Valley to protest the ongoing detention of the former MP.
The road closure comes two days after the family and supporters of the ex-lawmaker vowed never to quit protesting his arrest, saying they will reveal details about the case Monday.
Yaacoub was arrested earlier this month over his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of former Libyan leader Moammer Gadhafi's son.
Residents from the northeastern city of Hermel Saturday also visited the house of Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub, the father of the former MP, who disappeared in 1987 while accompanying Shiite Imam Musa Sadr along with a journalist during an official visit to Libya.
The delegations expressed solidarity with the missing sheikh’s son, slamming the ongoing detention of the former MP and three others over their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Hannibal Gadhafi.
"The relentless injustice against the family of Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub is a shameful act that stings the conscience," a statement issued by the delegations said.
