On 25 June 16, the “We Want Accountability” movement held a demonstration Saturday in front of the Beirut Municipality to protest what they said was an attack on public and maritime properties. The demonstration comes amid heightened fears that Beirut’s only public sandy beach, Ramlet al-Baida would become private property. Protesters said they rejected the privatization of the beach as it was prohibited by the State Shura Council and would be a violation of the constitution.
