Uber drivers held an impromptu protest, a day after Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk said that the popular ride-hailing app was unsafe and called on the Lebanese people to use local taxi companies instead. The minister’s remarks were made after a driver contracted with the company was named as the prime suspect in the murder of British national Rebecca Dykes.
Around 56 Uber drivers staged the Thursday morning demonstration near the Beirut Digital District building Downtown where Uber’s Lebanon offices are located.
