Two suspects robbed a Nestle office on the outskirts of Beirut, a security source told The Daily Star.

The two assailants, wearing masks, approached the Nestle office in Jisr al-Basha on a motorcycle. They entered the premises and made their way to the safe.

One of the suspects pulled out a gun, aiming it at employees, while the other reportedly sprayed an incapacitating agent in the air, causing the employees to lose consciousness.

“The suspects must have been familiar [with the company], since they knew when the salaries would be paid, and chose that exact time to rob the office,” the source said.

The two suspects stole LL104 million ($69,333) before fleeing to an unknown location.

“The serial numbers of the stolen banknotes were made public in order to catch the perpetrators,” the source said. "That way, if they attempt to use the money, they will be exposed."

The Internal Security Forces questioned the Nestle employees that were present during the robbery and checked security cameras in an effort to identify the suspects.

This security incident was mapped according to the closest possible location.
