A teenager killed his mother in the Bekaa Valley village of Taalabaya in what appears to be an honor crime, Lebanese media reported Thursday.

Abdullah Abu Eid, 17, fatally shot his mother Feryal in the head Wednesday. Media reports said that tensions between the mother and her children were brewing for years, after Feryal divorced her husband and left her children with their grandparents.
Abu Eid’s grudge toward his mother intensified in time amid rumors about his mother’s conduct. He did not take the news that his parents had reconciled a month ago well, reports said.
The father had rented a house for Feryal in Taalabaya, keeping it a secret because he knew that her life was in danger. But Abu Eid followed his father and found the house, and shot his mother in the afternoon.
Though the shooter is still at large, his father was arrested and is in police custody
