The Internal Security Forces announced the arrest of a man suspected of the theft of gold coins, watches and money worth $43,000 in Tyre’s Qana.

The suspect, identified as Syrian national Aa.A., born in 1996, was arrested on Feb. 5. The initial complaint regarding the theft was made on Jan. 24.

Aa.A. reportedly confessed to stealing the goods and hiding them in a cave on the outskirts of the southern town.

An ISF patrol went to the cave and found $33,000 in cash, in addition to the stolen gold coins, which were hidden on top of a 6-meter high rock inside the cave.

The seized items were returned to their owner, the ISF reported, while the investigation into the theft is ongoing.
