Conflict Incident Report
Syrian dentist arrested for practicing in Lebanon
A Syrian dentist was arrested Monday and the clinic that employed him was given a warning for allowing a non-Lebanese doctor to work, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
After receiving reports of a non-Lebanese doctor who was practicing at the clinic, investigations were launched, which confirmed that the doctor was working in Mohammad al-Ahmar’s dental clinic in Taalabaya. Lebanese law prevents any non-Lebanese individuals from working in the medical field inside the country.
“A warning was issued to the Lebanese doctor who owned the clinic under being stripped of his license to practice if this incident happened again,” a statement from the ministry read.
“A letter was sent to the Dental Syndicate in Beirut to take the proper measures,” it added.
