A Syrian man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in illegal purchase and transport of arms to extremist militants deployed on the Lebanon-Syria border, General Security said Thursday.
A statement said the suspect, who was only identified as A.B., belonged to the Nusra Front “terrorist group.” It did not say when and where he was apprehended.
General Security said the arrest was part of its ongoing effort to “track terror sleeper cells.”
The statement accused the suspect of involvement in the “purchase of weapons and ammunition of all types and transporting them to [Nusra Front] inside Syrian territory through the outskirts of Arsal.”
