A military expert examined on Saturday a suspicious cardboard box left inside a plant near the roundabout of Saadnayel and confirmed that it contained a 4 kg bomb made of highly explosive material.

The bomb has since been dismantled. It has not been discovered yet whether the bomb was wired to a clock or could be remotely detonated.

Security cameras in the region are to be consulted in an attempt to uncover the culprit. An investigation will also be launched with the plant workers.

A suspicious cardboard box discarded at Saadnayel roundabout was reported on Saturday to the Lebanese Armed Forces, according to NNA correspondent. The LAF cut-off Zahle-Shtoura highway and awaited the arrival of the military expert to examine the box.
