Customs officials at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport arrested two suspected drug smugglers upon their arrival from Brazil.

The two suspects – a Lebanese national and a Venezuelan-Syrian national – were carrying candlestick holders, ashtrays and a small statue all containing cocaine. They have been referred to the judiciary for investigation.

The arrest was a joint ISF-Customs operation.
