The Internal Security Forces arrested a man and his wife in Ghazieh in connection with the murder of a Syrian national found dead in Sidon, a statement from the ISF said Thursday.

The body of a man identified as Syrian national Aa.Aa., born in 2000, had been found along the highway Tuesday, wrapped in a blanket and plastic bags. A forensic doctor ruled the cause of death to be suffocation.

The suspected killer, identified as Syrian national Aa.H., born in 1994, was arrested inside his home in Ghazieh.

Aa.H. allegedly admitted to having choked Aa.Aa. to death after discovering that the victim had had an affair with his wife, and said he then used his motorbike to dispose of the body along the highway.

The suspect’s wife, identified as Syrian national A.H., born in 2000, was also arrested, though the charges against her remain unclear. Investigations are ongoing under judicial supervision, the statement said.
