A 24-year-old stepdad was detained along with his Syrian wife on suspicion of murdering her two-year-old toddler in the southern port city of Sidon, Internal Security Forces announced overnight. ISF said in a statement that Youssef A., a Syrian child, was brutally beaten by his Palestinian stepdad, Y.M., and then buried in a cemetery in the town of Ghazieh. ISF's Information Branch accompanied by Maghdoushe police later arrested the 28-year-old mother, a Syrian national identified by her initials N.Q., on suspicion of murder. No further details were given, but an investigation is underway to unveil the circumstances of the alleged crime.
