A protesting hospital employee was injured by security forces as dozens of public hospital employees announced they would close hospitals to all patients the following day, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Employees of public hospitals across Lebanon have gone on routine strikes in recent months, demanding a pay hike in accordance with last year’s salary scale law.
The announcement was made as protesters gathered on the road leading to the presidential palace in Baabda in conjunction with a Cabinet session.
