Overnight, unidentified assailants broke into a cell phone shop owned by Naser al-Masri in Bechara Khoury Street in Baalbeck in one of the area’s most recent reported robbery.

The amount of losses is yet to be estimated.

Baalbeck, located in the northern part of the Bekaa Valley, is known to be a safe haven for fugitives, and revenge killings are common in the region.

Kidnappings for ransom, car theft, arbitrary gunfire, murder, among other crimes are rife, both in the city and surrounding towns in the Baalbek district.

Recently, key local figures have led awareness campaigns against these illicit activities.
