On 17 Dec 16, in Aley, local bus drivers briefly blocked the Damascus Road in protest of recent scuffles that broke out between bus and minibus drivers over picking up passengers. Internal Security Forces and Army units negotiated with the drivers and reopened the highway to relieve the traffic congestion on the vital route.
