Police arrest Syrian for strangling brother in northeast Lebanon

Police announced the arrest of a Syrian who allegedly strangled his brother with his bare hands in the northeastern border town of Al-Qaa.

The Internal Security Forces said in a statement that the body of Syrian Uday al-Ali, 26, was discovered earlier this month inside a hole in Masharee Al-Qaa in the outskirts of the Bekaa Valley town Al-Qaa.

The victim's brother, 27, identified by as Aa., was arrested on the suspicion of links to the crime.

The suspect admitted to the charges and to strangling his brother inside a tent in Masharee al-Qaa with his bare hands, and to using a scarf to hang his body from a tree over a family dispute.

He also confessed that his 48-year-old neighbor, identified as M.M., helped him after the suspect convinced him that Uday hung himself.

The two then buried the body in a hole.

The scarf was confiscated from the crime scene.
