BEIRUT: Police arrested a Syrian on charges of distributing counterfeit money, the Internal Security Forces announced.
The statement said that 29-year-old Aa.B. used the forged bills in the eastern city of Zahle.
The suspect was arrested in the eastern town of Saadnayel over the weekend.
In his possession was $2,200 in counterfeit $100 bills, which the police confiscated.
The suspect confessed during questioning that he was heading to the town to distribute the fake banknotes.
The police then referred him to the Financial Crimes Office for further questioning.
